What a ChatGPT ads agency actually does

Plan for a first draft using information you have. Research, approvals, and client responses may take longer. Work at your own pace; these are not measured completion times. Open the glossary.

Your objective

Explain the work, separate the agency fee from advertising spend, and identify a useful first service.

A service, not a shortcut

A ChatGPT ads agency helps a business decide whether this advertising channel is appropriate, prepare a campaign, and interpret what happens. The valuable part is the judgment and delivery around the campaign: understanding the offer, checking prerequisites, defining the work, coordinating approvals, and explaining results. A new platform does not remove those responsibilities.

Start by separating paid advertising from an organic recommendation in an AI answer. This playbook teaches planning for paid ads, not selling a promise to make a model recommend a business. Ads Manager is the platform for creating and managing campaigns. Its interface and capabilities change, so platform-specific steps should always be checked against current documentation.

Follow the money and the responsibility

The agency fee pays for your time and agreed deliverables. Media spend pays the advertising platform. Those are separate costs, and the client should understand both before agreeing to a pilot. The client owns its advertising account and pays its media bill directly. Appropriate delegated access allows you to do the agreed work without taking ownership or sharing passwords.

Your responsibilities might include a readiness summary, campaign plan, creative drafts, measurement checks, scheduled reviews, and a final recommendation. The client's responsibilities might include supplying true product information, approving a budget, making website changes, and handling incoming inquiries. A campaign can fail operationally even when the ads are well written if nobody is responsible for the next step.

Begin with readiness

A readiness assessment asks whether the prerequisites for a useful test exist. Is there a clear offering and suitable destination page? Can the desired outcome be measured? Is there an authorized test budget the business can afford? Can the business fulfill an order or respond to a qualified lead? An assessment may recommend fixing those gaps or not advertising at all.

A pilot is a separate, bounded piece of work. It needs a goal, deliverables, exclusions, a review schedule, an approved budget, and criteria for continuing or stopping. You do not need to promise profitable results to describe that work clearly. You do need the competence to deliver what you promise. Practice with fictional inputs before presenting a service to a real business.

See it in practice

Fictional example: Northline Packs sells commuter backpacks. Its owner asks whether a new paid channel is worth testing. You propose a readiness review that delivers one gap summary and a draft measurement plan. You discover the purchase event has not been tested. Your recommendation is to verify tracking before agreeing to a live pilot. You have delivered a useful decision without spending the client's money or inventing a performance forecast.

Make it yours

Write three sentences: the decision your assessment helps a business make; the concrete document or work it receives; and what the client must own or approve. Then use the Offer Builder to turn those sentences into a draft service.

Review your work

  • I describe paid advertising rather than promising organic AI recommendations.
  • My fee and the client's advertising spend are separate.
  • I identify a real deliverable and an approval owner.
  • My service can recommend deferring a campaign; it does not guarantee revenue.

This is a self-review, not professional certification or a prediction of results.

A common mistake

Calling yourself an expert because you can navigate an interface. The ability to configure a campaign is only one part of responsible client work. Label practice honestly and identify the skills you still need to develop.

Your next step

Check whether a business has the prerequisites for a useful pilot.
